About this scholarship

The Dr Terry Farquharson Pharmacy PhD Top-Up Scholarship provides encouragement and support for commencing PhD students in the field of pharmacy.

The scholarship is for students who have completed a UniSA undergraduate   pharmacy   qualification   and   have commenced advanced research in the field of pharmacy. Preference may be given to applicants who have completed the UniSA double degree Bachelor of Pharmaceutical Science, Bachelor of Pharmacy (Honours). Recipients will receive a top-up scholarship valued at $15,000 provided they continue to be enrolled and maintain satisfactory progress.

Value

$15,000, payable in three instalments of $5,000 direct to the student in year 1, 2 and 3 of the PhD program. Pro-rata payments will apply for part-time enrolment.

Eligibility and Selection Criteria

  • be an Australian Citizen
  • Permanent Resident of Australia, or an international student
  • have completed a UniSA pharmacy qualification: -double degree Bachelor of Pharmaceutical Science, Bachelor of Pharmacy – Honours (preferred) -Bachelor of Pharmacy (Honours) -Bachelor of Pharmaceutical Science Be enrolled (full time or part time) in a PhD program in Pharmaceutical Science (or related field)  

Applicants are required to provide:

  • a Curriculum Vitae outlining work history and community engagement
  • a written statement (maximum 750 words) outlining the research topic
  • reasons for undertaking a Doctorate by Research in the pharmacy or pharmaceutical science field and how the research supports their aspirations including career goals
  • academic achievements
  • current and previous work history (both pharmacy and non-pharmacy related)
  • community involvement and/or extracurricular activities
  • the name of any scholarships or grants currently held (or where an application is pending)

Shortlisted applicants will be asked to provide a reference from their Principal Supervisor.

The top-up scholarship is subject to acceptance of a research proposal within six months of commencement.

At all speaking engagements and publications arising from the research, recipients will provide the following acknowledgement: “I/the author acknowledge/s with gratitude the award of the Dr Terry Farquharson Pharmacy PhD Top-Up Scholarship for supporting this research.” How to apply: Applications are accessed through myScholarships (via logging on to the myUniSA student portal).  

Applicants are not required to attend an interview.
