With its well-planned blocks of land, easy to navigate straight roads and open parklands, Adelaide is more of a small city compared to Sydney. This, however, is the charm that brings people to visit and live in Adelaide. For those looking for a simple and laid back lifestyle, then Adelaide is the city for you. The city is filled with a large variety of restaurants perfect for foodies including Italian, Asian, Greek, Moroccan, Indian, African and many more and, of course, Australian. Many of these restaurants can be found in the CBD along the city east area on Rundle Street and along Gouger Street near the Central Market. Our suburbs also boast a rich array of eateries.

Being a city with a population of just over one million, you can expect plenty of fresh air and wide open spaces. Car owners and enthusiasts can also rest easy knowing there is plenty of parking, especially in the quiet and uncluttered suburban streets of Adelaide.

Our climate

Adelaide enjoys a Mediterranean climate with sunny weather for most of the year and rainfall mainly during the winter season.

Adelaide also sits comfortably as the city with the lowest amount of humidity, so you won't have to worry too much about the weather wreaking havoc on your hair.

Our currency

The national currency is the Australian dollar (AUD), which comes in denominations of $5, $10, $20, $50 and $100 for notes, while coins come in 5, 10, 20 and 50 cents, and $1 and $2 denominations.

Currency exchanges are available at most international airports, hotels and banks. EFTPOS is also widely available in most shops.

Our culture

The Australian culture defines itself with its vibrant mix of cultures and flourishing arts and music scene along with its traditions, folklore and love of sport.

Known as the Festival State, you can expect a huge range of festivals and activities every year in Adelaide, with something anyone can enjoy so there is no excuse for boredom!
