This study aims to design a new education/support intervention to optimise pre-and post-surgery care for people undergoing Total Knee Replacement. Working with past TKR patients, people considering TKR surgery in the future, and clinicians, we want to better understand the current patient journey and collaborate in the production of the support intervention.
You will be asked via a few questions to check that you are eligible to participate via an online survey, then we will ask you about your age, biological sex, gender, postcode, country of birth, ethnicity, occupation, your motivation for participating, diagnosis of osteoarthritis, other health diagnoses (e.g. mental health diagnoses, painful conditions, cardiovascular disease, autism, diabetes etc.), presence (and intensity) of knee pain, and past/future joint replacement surgeries. We will then check in with you personally (by phone, email or text) and send you a link to complete further questionnaires. If you are eligible, are selected, invited, and agree to participate, you will be asked to attend up to three face-to-face workshops (spaced over several months) of approximately 3 hours (including breaks) at a University of South Australia campus in the Adelaide CBD.
The workshops will comprise small group activities with options to also provide feedback anonymously.
To be eligible you will be either:
A person with osteoarthritis who has undergone a Total Knee Replacement, or
A person with osteoarthritis who is considering a knee replacement, or,
A health professional who works with people undergoing Total Knee Replacement
And, with no cognitive impairment and able to communicate in English.
At the completion of the workshops you will be paid (via a pre-paid visa card)
