EU leaders will meet on 7 March, 2016 with Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu to push for full and speedy implementation of the EU-Turkey action plan, which aims to stem migration flows and tackle networks of traffickers and smugglers. At its February meeting, the European Council agreed to hold talks with Turkey. In preparation for the meeting, President of the European Council Donald Tusk travelled to the main countries of the Western Balkan route between 1 and 4 March. He also met Prime Minister Davutoglu and President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Turkey. After their meeting with Prime Minister Davutoglu the members of the European Council witll continue their debate on the need to build a European consensus on migration.
