What are the major issues facing our world today? Massive credit bubble, global warming, environmental degradation, conflicts, poverty, refugees, terrorism, lack of support for international organizations and so forth. We have plenty to worry about. Are we doing enough to avoid calamities down the road? Should we allow narrow nationalistic policies dictate the global agenda? The answer is NO. Now is the time to think globally and act locally.

In this third lecture of the Hawke EU Centre Ambassador Lecture Series held on Wednesday 28 June 2017, Ambassador Lars BACKSTRÖM addressed many of these issues from a personal perspective by inviting the audience on a journey from his native Finland via the European Union to the Middle-East, Africa, America, Asia and Australia.

Ambassador Lars BACKSTRÖM assumed his duties as Ambassador of Finland to Australia in October 2016.
