Consistently in the top 10 Australian universities for executive education over the past 10 years, this year BOSS Magazine has ranked the University of South Australia’s MBA program number four in Australia.

And UniSA also leads the nation with its online MBA program which was ranked number one nationally and number six globally in the 2019 CEO Magazine’s Global MBA Rankings

Director of Executive Education at UniSA, Peter Stevens says the achievement consolidates UniSA’s position as the leader in South Australia for executive education and one of Australia’s and the world’s highest quality MBA educators.

“We have worked hard to deliver what we know our students need – an international standard of quality; the kind of flexibility that meets the needs of today’s high performers; close relationships with business and industry to ensure the relevance and currency of our teaching; and the option for students to deepen and broaden their studies with international study tours and opportunities to connect with senior executives,” Stevens says.

He says through a unique partnership with the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD), UniSA students can also complete the Company Directors’ Course as part of their study program.

“This is the first collaboration of this kind in Australia and means students are equipped with the principals and practices of good governance, an increasingly significant body of knowledge for modern executives and business leaders,” Stevens says.

In 2004, UniSA was one of the first Australian universities to secure EQUIS accreditation through the EFMD Quality Improvement system and today, UniSA Business School is ranked in the top one percent worldwide.

UniSA Pro Vice Chancellor Business and Law, Professor Marie Wilson says top flight executive education is in demand globally.

“While there are a lot of business educators in the market, professional leaders seek degree programs that have strong industry engagement and are backed by world-class research from the academic faculty,” Prof Wilson says.

“UniSA has always been closely tied to industry with a highly developed industry mentorship program and exciting placement opportunities in leading companies both in Australia and in the Asia-Pacific region.

“Our research is ranked world class or above in the Excellence in Research for Australia rankings and we continue to be one of the world’s top young universities.

“We have sought and received quality measures that count, and we are committed to delivering a world class educational experience for all of our students whether they are studying online or on-campus.”

Graduate of UniSA’s MBA program and now a Director of Digital & Innovation at Deloitte in Adelaide, Slade Peel says the degree has made a world of difference to his career.

“I made a conscious decision to quit my job and focus all my energy on the MBA,” Peel says.

“It was a big move and the study was everything I imagined – challenging…yes, rewarding…yes – and invaluable in my career acceleration.

“Since graduating and taking on my new role at Deloitte, I have had the chance to make a difference for our clients when it comes to harnessing technology – something I could never have done with such confidence before completing the MBA.”

Peel says when he was considering where to study his MBA, the flexibility of the UniSA program and the opportunity to study part of the program in China was a drawcard. And it didn’t disappoint.

“China is Australia’s largest trading partner for imports and exports and getting a greater understanding of how to do business with China was invaluable for me but also for many of my clients,” he says.

“I had the opportunity to study at Peking University in Beijing, one of the best universities in the world and the trip gave me a complete cultural immersion experience which has been hugely important to my understanding of business in our region.

“It is those insights that continue to be invaluable well beyond graduation.”
