Student Exchange

Discover yourself abroad

Important notice

In light of the continued risk and uncertainty around travel, all international travel on university business is suspended until further notice, unless otherwise specified.

Additionally, UniSA International Travel Grants are also unavailable and may not be reinstated by the time international travel is available again. When planning your future study overseas experience, please budget accordingly. OS-HELP and other Government grants and scholarships may still apply.

Please don’t let COVID-19 put your plans on hold. Use this time to plan for your future. The Study Overseas team remain as passionate as ever about the benefits of studying overseas and are here to assist if you have any questions. Please contact us if you’d like to discuss your future plans

What is student exchange?

An exchange semester allows you to study overseas at one of our partner institutions while staying enrolled at UniSA. Available to both undergraduate and postgraduate coursework students, tuition fees are waived by the host institution, and the courses you study overseas count for credit in place of a semester here! By applying for an exchange you are automatically considered for a $2,500 UniSA exchange travel grant.

To study overseas in Study Period 2 (Feb-July) applications open 1 March to 1 August.
Applications close 11:59pm on 1 August of the year before you are planning to go on exchange

To study overseas in Study Period 5 (July-Dec) applications open 1 October to 11 January.
Applications close 11:59pm on 11 January of the year you are planning to go on exchange

Once applications close, you will be assessed for eligibility. The Study Overseas team will notify you of the outcome of your application two to four weeks after the deadline.

WHAT IF I WANT TO STUDY AT A NON-PARTNER UNIVERSITY?

If you intend to study at a university that is not one of our partners, you may be able to go as a fee-paying Study Abroad student. Outgoing study abroad is not supported by UniSA and is entirely independent. As such, you will have to arrange everything by yourself and take a leave of absence from UniSA. If you are thinking of doing this, please contact us at student.exchange@unisa.edu.au and let us know, as you may still be eligible for funding.
