“My motto after exchange is for people thinking of doing a semester or more abroad shouldn’t even be thinking about it. They should just do it! South Australia has so much to offer.”

Erlend Seyffarth

Why did you choose to study abroad?

I wanted to try something else for a change and do things I haven’t dared to do before. I loved every second of it. I choose UniSA because they had a good variety of subjects that we could choose from, and Adelaide seemed like a nice city, which it was.

What was your experience of studying abroad?

I loved the teachers. COVID-19 made the experience different from what it could have been, but still I learnt a lot and met a lot of nice people. I made some good friends that I definitely will visit someday.

What did you like about Adelaide?

Adelaide is a great city, not too big or too small. It was really easy to get to know people, as they talked to us and introduced us to what Adelaide had to offer. This included great places to shop and great beaches. The pubs and clubs were top notch! I fell in love with Adelaide right from the start. It truly is a great place.

What did you like about UniSA?

The quality of teaching staff at UniSA was amazing. UniSA had some of the best teachers I’ve met so far. They were easy to communicate with and really skilled and helpful! For me, coming in as an international student, they took great interest in me and that made me feel more welcome. The campuses were also of high quality. Magill campus is a beautiful campus, and both the library there and at City West were of high standards.

If you could offer a piece of advice, a tip or simply some words of encouragement to fellow members of the Norwegian international student community, what would it be?

My motto after exchange is for people thinking of doing a semester or more abroad shouldn’t even be thinking about it. They should just do it! Take part in every social activity. It may be expensive to attend everything, but it is worth it!

You should also attend social events that are happening in the city. For me attending CrossFit at Soul 365 Adelaide gave me something outside of school to engage in. I met a lot of people and made friends there as well.

Also, visit places around Adelaide. South Australia has so much to offer, so rent a car (which is cheap!!) and drive around to see the sights.
