Master of Social WorkDue to a recent change in accreditation guidelines from the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW), we are now able to accept a wider range of background discipline areas into our Master of Social Work. This is great news for students who are interested in a postgraduate qualification in social work as it now provides more pathway options for students from different study areas.

Below is a list of background areas that can be automatically accepted into this degree:

  • Human life/course development
  • Development Studies
  • Gender and Sexuality
  • Society and Culture
  • Race and Ethnicity
  • Disability Studies
  • Indigenous/Aboriginal Studies
  • Gender Specific Studies
  • Behavioural Science
  • Human Welfare Studies and Services
  • Welfare Studies
  • Counselling
  • Residential Client Care
  • Care for the Disabled
  • Care for the Aged
  • Youth Work
  • Children's Services
  • Studies in Human Society
  • Human Geography
  • History
  • Anthropology
  • Policy Studies
  • Political Science

For discipline areas not listed above (i.e. nursing and education), students are required to have completed at least eight relevant ‘social and behavioural science’ courses as part of a completed degree.
