Student wins Mardeka AwardMs Xin Ting Leong, a Bachelor of Business (Property) student from Malaysia won the prestigious Merdeka Award on August 23. Xin Ting was one of the three award recipients during the ceremony, receiving a trophy and A$1,000.

The award was organised by the Australia Malaysia Business Council, South Australia. Sir Eric Neal, a former South Australian Governor, presented the awards at a dinner attended by approximately 250 people at the Adelaide Convention Centre.

The award winners were selected not only for their academic achievements but also for their efforts in enhancing South Australia's knowledge and understanding of Malaysian culture. 

In addition to this latest award, Xin Ting has also received two other awards, The Chancellor’s Letter of Commendation and the McGraw-Hill Australia Prize from the University of South Australia  in the last two years. Currently, Xin Ting is the Secretary of the International Students Business Society (ISBS) Malaysia Chapter, a student club at UniSA.
