Gallery opening hours

The Gallery is open Monday to Friday, 9am – 6pm.

Due to the expansion of our exhibition program, functions will not be permitted in the Gallery during the above opening hours.  Functions may be held after 5pm, however setup may not take place until after 4pm to ensure minimal disruption to Gallery visitors.  Provision of function space will be dependent on the exhibition showing at the time. If an event is aligned to the subject matter on display, or is held in conjunction with the Hawke Centre, there may be the opportunity to hold a function in the Gallery earlier in the day.  Please contact renee.jolly@unisa.edu.au to discuss.

Booking conditions

The Gallery is only available for stand-up functions such as cocktail receptions/book launches etc.  The capacity for functions is 150 stand-up.  Minimum setup is available for catered events and no pin-boards are allowed in the Gallery.  A floorplan, with setup requirements marked, must be approved by the Hawke Centre prior to your event.  No exhibition components are to be moved or covered during your event.

The following acknowledgement must be included in event literature and on the day: We acknowledge the support of the Hawke Centre in making the Kerry Packer Civic Gallery available for our event.

Depending on the requirements of the exhibition on show in the Gallery, you may be able to use the data projector during your event.  Please check prior to booking the space.  Any visual presentations to be used must be forwarded to renee.jolly@unisa.edu.au at least 5 working days prior to your event.  All presentations should be designed in a 16:9 format either as individual jpg images or as a powerpoint file.  If direct control is required for a powerpoint presentation to be shown on the data projector, you must book IT Support for laptop connection via IT Help Desk ISTS.Helpdesk@unisa.edu.au

Catering

No catering supplies are available in the Gallery and you will need to organise all aspects of catering for your event.  Please ensure ALL equipment and supplies are collected immediately after your event or by 8.30am the following morning – AT THE LATEST.  Any left-over food and drink must be removed or disposed of immediately after your event. A Liquor Licence is required for all functions serving alcohol and a Food Safety and Handling Certificate must be produced by your caterer, if requested by FM Assist.

Emergency Evacuation

Please ensure you are aware of the emergency evacuation procedures for the Hawke Building.  On hearing the fire alarm the building must be evacuated immediately via the fire exits on level 3.  These are located via the Samstag Museum or through the Allan Scott Auditorium.   DO NOT use the lifts or central stairway in an emergency evacuation.

Access and security

Security will ensure doors are unlocked for the time of your booking.  Please contact them if you have any issues with access at your function.  There are a number of security phones located in the building.

Please note: User groups must ensure that the room and facilities used are left in a clean and tidy state at the conclusion of the function. Failure to do so will result in additional cleaning costs.

The University is committed to providing and maintaining a safe and healthy environment for staff, students, and visitors, and as such activities or functions held on campus will be undertaken in compliance with the University's By-laws and Occupational Health Safety and Welfare procedures.
