Welcome to the University of South Australia Department of Rural Health

We are committed to improving the recruitment and retention of nursing and allied health professionals in rural and remote South Australia. This is achieved in part by supporting domestic nursing and allied health students to undertake a rural placement, and work in, and engage with, local communities.

Our role is to:

  • Facilitate and support domestic nursing and allied health student placements in rural South Australia
  • Support the rural workforce through delivery of workshops and training
  • Undertake research on rural health issues within the community
  • Engage with the community through education and clinical activities

We are funded by the Commonwealth Government through the Rural Health Multidisciplinary Training (RHMT) Program.
