Have you heard about the "Stolen Wages" in Queensland and the meagre compensation offer from the Beattie Government?

  • Dr Ros Kidd, Queensland researcher

  • Andrew Wilson, Aboriginal Project Officer, State Records
  • Tom Gara, Local researcher

Sea of handsDr Kidd has spent a decade using government records to bring the truth to the general public, but more importantly to those who, with their forebears, were subjected to the most massive social experiment in our nation’s history.

There can be no argument that conditions endured by people trapped under the ‘Protection Acts’ around Australia bordered on the criminally negligent. To have current politicians deny this must be heartbreaking. The thousands of records compiled by officials during this period tell the truth about these conditions and the mindsets of the men who maintained them with such determination. From these irrefutable facts of history we can achieve justice and an honest account of our past.

Black Lives: Government Lies - Rosalind KiddAuthor of Black Lives, Government Lies, Ros Kidd challenges the argument by the federal government and others that ‘our generation’ should not have to accept responsibility for the actions of previous generations.

Please come if you have stories from your families or communities you would like to speak about
or if you are interested to hear more about some aspects of our history some would like to remain silent
