About this project

In this ARC DECRA project, a PhD student will have the opportunity to discover representations of intrinsic information for the agent, a collaborative human-agent network with attention, and a hierarchical human-agent network with skill learning, based on humans (neuroscience) and agents (AI) reinforcement learning, to achieve an advance reliable and securable decision-making process that will address Australia's national research priority of cybersecurity.

What you’ll do

The student will be responsible for literature review, data collection and analysis, algorithm design and experiment implementations as well as system evaluation and testing. Involvement in this ARC DECRA project will equip the student with in-depth domain knowledge in AI and human-centred computing and many important academic capabilities, including high-quality publications in journals and conferences, and participation in appropriate translational research for industry enterprises.

This DECRA project will provide opportunities to attend international conferences to present project outputs and achievements along with potential short-visit exchanges with other research institutes. This project can offer sufficient hardware and software resources such as sensing devices to collect data and high-performance computing station for analysis.

Where you’ll be

You will be working in the intersection area of the Industrial AI Research Centre (IAI) and the Australian Research Centre for Interactive and Virtual Environments (IVE) at UniSA’s Mawson Lakes campus. IAI and IVE have the strong research skills and knowledge to meet demand and lead the next technological revolution of Industry 4.0 and bring together experts from different fields of computer science and engineering to develop intelligent solutions.

Financial Support

This project is funded for reasonable research expenses. Additionally, a living allowance scholarship of $28,854 per annum is available to eligible applicants. Australian Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander applicants will be eligible to receive an increased stipend rate of $45,076 per annum. A fee-offset or waiver for the standard term of the program is also included. Eligibility and Selection

This project is open to application from both domestic and international applicants.

Applicants must meet the eligibility criteria for entrance into a PhD. All applications that meet the eligibility and selection criteria will be considered for this project. A merit selection process will be used to determine the successful candidate.

The successful applicant is expected to study full-time and to be based at our Mawson Lakes campus in the north of Adelaide.
