Yarning CircleWhen a young person is taught to belong they are more likely to attend school, learn and reach their potential. Improving Teachers work in Indigenous education matters for addressing disparity in outcomes. New Teacher Professional Standards require teacher skills to engage all students in understanding Indigenous cultures. This study aims to examine how schools teach using Culturally Responsive Pedagogy in mainstream middle school classrooms. Specifically it uses multi-sited participatory action research that brings together teachers, researchers, Aboriginal Education Officers and Elders to co-create an Australian Culturally Responsive Pedagogy.
The study aims to inform theory, policy and practice in schools and teacher preparation courses.
