Semantic Systems Lab
Director: Professor Markus Stumptner
Find out more about the four key research areas of the UniSA Semantic Systems Laboratory:
- The Knowledge and Software Engineering Laboratory encompasses high level descriptions of programming and problem solving tasks, with the goal of more effective and less maintenance effective software development for specific domains.
- The Data and Web Engineering Laboratory works on the development of new models and technologies used in databases and web information systems.
- The Health Informatics Laboratory is working on a project closely related to the Human Variome Project, especially to its Australian node. Currently MAWSON is a collaboration between UniSA (ACRC) and SA Pathology; funded by the Quality Use of Pathology Project (Commonwealth Department of Health and Ageing.)
- The Security Laboratory undertakes high-quality, cutting edge research into topics in both Web Technologies and Security. We are interested in Web search, how people interact with Web search engines and how search engines personalise results to individuals, how people can be identified by the way they behave online, how to look after personal privacy when online either by traditional means or by brain-computer interfaces. Staff Helen Ashman and Kirsten Wahlstrom work with PhD and undergraduate students, as well as international collaborators in Europe.
