MY 804 DAYS IN AN IRANIAN PRISON

Dr Kylie Moore-Gilbert In-Conversation with Jane Caro AM

Join us for a remarkable story of courage and resilience.

On 12 September 2018 Dr Kylie Moore-Gilbert was on her way home from an academic conference in Iran when she was arrested. Accused of espionage and trapped in a foreign country, Kylie was detained by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and eventually imprisoned.

Over the course of 804 days, much of which spent in solitary confinement, Kylie resisted making a false confession despite relentless interrogation and psychological torture.

Refusing to accept a sham trial which saw her sentenced to ten years, Kylie chose a path of resistance. From multiple hunger strikes, smuggling letters to the media, coordinated protests with fellow prisoners to a daring escape attempt she defied her captors.

Dr Kylie Moore-Gilbert's book, The Uncaged Sky reveals the full story behind Kylie’s time imprisoned in Iran. Writing with vivid immediacy, Kylie explores not only her battle against the IRGC but also the battle within her own self for survival. The Uncaged Sky is a powerful meditation on hope, solidarity and what it means to be free.

Dr Kylie Moore-Gilbert will be in conversation with social commentator Jane Caro AM.
