Adelaide’s built heritage provides invaluable infrastructure and amenity for residents and visitors alike. The 30 Year Plan for Metropolitan Adelaide promises protection for areas of established character and heritage, but does not specify measures to implement that promise.
In planning for the future of our city, how do we ensure that our heritage assets are properly protected and effectively utilised to maintain their ongoing contribution to the life and prosperity of the city?
An informed panel discuss how we can protect built heritage within future planning processes and offer their ideas and policies for securing a sustainable future for Adelaide's built heritage.

Vickie Chapman MP, Deputy Leader of the Opposition and Shadow Minister for Planning 
Vickie was elected as Deputy Leader of the Opposition on 4 February 2013, and has served as the Member for Bragg since 2002. Vickie has been at the forefront of the fight to save Glenside Hospital, ensuring the site is preserved to help those suffering mental illness. Before entering Parliament, Vickie worked as a lawyer and ran her own small business.
The Hon. Mark Parnell MLC, Parliamentary leader of the SA Greens 
Mark was the first member of the Australian Greens to be elected to the South Australian Parliament (2006). In Parliament, Mark has been a consistent advocate for human rights, economic reform and a sustainable environment. He sits on the Environment Resources & Development Committee and has a background in Environmental law.
Rachel Sanderson MP, State Member for Adelaide 
Rachel has served as the State Member for Adelaide since 2010. Having run an award-winning business for over 18 years, Rachel is passionate about ensuring business conditions in SA are competitive with other states. She is actively involved in community groups, including the Prospect Blair Athol Lions Club and Meals on Wheels.
Cr Jill Whittaker, Deputy Mayor of Campbelltown 
Cr Jill Whittaker has been a member of the Campbelltown Council since 2003, and Deputy Mayor of Campbelltown since 2006. She works to ensure that development meets the needs of the community now and in the future. Cr Whittaker is Vice President of the Local Government Association of South Australia.
Stephen Yarwood, Lord Mayor of the City of Adelaide 
Stephen was elected Lord Mayor of the City of Adelaide in 2010. With a background in town planning, Stephen's vision for Adelaide is a modern, vibrant and sustainable place to do business, live and enjoy life. He is the presiding Member of the Local Government Association committee, overseeing the State/Local Government Climate Change Sector Agreement.
