A long history of global business education excellence at UniSA

University of South Australia’s business education has once again cemented itself as one of the leading business schools, recently earning global endorsements for excellence under the EFMD’s Quality Improvement System EQUIS and Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) international business accreditation.

UniSA has been re-accredited for the next five years under the EFMD’s regular program of business education quality assessment. This is the highest-level accolade under the EQUIS system and only the top one per cent of business schools around the world have earned the accreditation.

One of the first Australian Universities to gain the accreditation 15 years ago, UniSA has consistently maintained and strengthened its business education offerings to secure the accreditation across the years.

Executive Dean, UniSA Business, Professor Andrew Beer says the result of the assessment reflects an institutional commitment to quality, engaged, business education.

“This most recent accreditation marks the sustained impact of UniSA’s business education on the careers of our graduates all around the world, and our contributions to business growth and the sustainable economic development of the Asia-Pacific region through research and teaching partnerships,” Prof Beer says.

“Our partners are global, and collaboration with the EQUIS network supports our strategic development as one of the world’s leading business education providers.”

Carried out regularly, the EQUIS quality audit looks broadly across a university’s business education operations, including all programs, from undergraduate to PhD, to assess quality and the international and professional relevance of programs and research.

EFMD’s accreditation attaches particular importance to the development of managerial and entrepreneurial skills, together with a student’s sense of global responsibility and their exposure to real world contexts through their education.

UniSA Business education and research has also been awarded another significant international endorsement, earning the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) international business accreditation, coming hot on the heels of the announcement of UniSA’s full five year EQUIS accreditation.

Founded in 1916, AACSB is the longest-serving global accrediting body for business schools, and the largest business education network connecting students, educators, and businesses worldwide.

Business schools that earn the accreditation must undergo a rigorous review process undertaken by peers in the business education community, to ensure they have the resources, credentials, and commitment needed to provide students with a first-rate, future-focused business education. The schools’ educational services are measured on a framework of 15 international standards.

AACSB Executive Vice President and Chief Accreditation Officer, Stephanie M. Bryant says she is delighted to award the accreditation to UniSA.

“We congratulate University of South Australia and Executive Dean Professor Andrew Beer on earning accreditation and applaud the entire UniSA Business team - including the administration, faculty, staff, and students - for their roles in earning this respected honour,” Bryant says.

“This accreditation recognises that the University has demonstrated a focus on excellence in all areas, including teaching, research, curriculum development, and student learning.

“The University of South Australia’s commitment to earning accreditation is a true reflection of its dedication - not only to its students, alumni network, and greater business community, but to the entire higher education industry.”

“Today’s students are tomorrow’s business leaders, and the addition of the UniSA Business to the network of AACSB-accredited business schools will have a lasting, positive impact for the University both locally and globally.”

Synonymous with the highest standards of quality, AACSB accreditation inspires new ways of thinking within business education. Today, 874 institutions across 56 countries and territories maintain AACSB accreditation.
