EAPP Grants

  • In 2019 two categories of EAPP grants are available to those registered with the Elite Athlete & Performer Program.

  • Please be aware that applications for these grants must be made via myScholarships. Your registration with the EAPP does not mean you will be automatically considered for a grant.

UniSA Elite Athlete & Performer Travel Grant 

NOTE: Applications for this grant have now closed for 2019. 

The UniSA Athlete & Performer Travel Grants provide financial assistance to registered students on the UniSA Elite Athletes & Performer program. The grant supports attendance at specific state, national and international events through reimbursement of registration fees and a travel allowance.

The grant can be used for the following:

  • flights
  • accommodation
  • registration fees
  • official uniforms

Value:

  • Up to $5,000 for international competition
  • Up to $2,000 for national competition
  • Up to $1,500 for State or UniSport competition*

    *In addition to financial support, those competing in the UniSport Nationals are also eligible to receive a 12 month UniSA Sport Gold gym membership - providing access to UniSA Sport gyms, pools and fitness classes across UniSA campuses. Please contact UniSA Sport for further details.

Eligibility & Selection Criteria

  • Registered UniSA Elite Athlete or Elite Performing Artist
  • Australian citizen or Australian Permanent Resident
  • Active in an University of South Australia undergraduate program, postgraduate program or UniSA College foundation studies
  • Enrolled in at least one course for the relevant study period
  • Participating in a state, national or international sporting event, competition or performance.

How to apply: 

  • Applications are accessed through myScholarships (via logging on to the myUniSA student portal). 
  • Applications must be made prior to the date of competition.
  • Applications made after the date of competition will not be accepted unless there are exceptional circumstances.

Please note:

  • There are a limited number of grants available annually.
  • Only one grant will be allocated to a student in a calendar year.

UniSA Elite Athlete & Performer Study Grant

NOTE: Applications for this grant have now closed for 2019. 

These grants provide financial assistance to students registered with the UniSA Elite Athlete & Performer program. 

Value: $2,000

Pro-rata payments will apply for part-time enrolment.

Eligibility & Selection Criteria

  • A registered UniSA Elite Athlete or Elite Performing Artist
  • Australian citizen or Australian Permanent Resident
  • Active in an University of South Australia undergraduate program, postgraduate program or UniSA College foundation studies
  • Enrolled in at least one course for the relevant study period
  • Demonstrable evidence of financial hardship

Whilst low socio-economic status is the primary criterion for the Elite Athletes Study Grant, applications will be weighted according to other equity indicators, including:

  • first in family to study higher education
  • identify as Aboriginal
  • living in a regional area within the last 4 years
  • Australian Institute of Sport categorisation
  • The grant will be awarded on the basis of financial disadvantage and other equity criteria.

UniSA Elite Athlete Scholarship

NOTE: This scholarship is not currently open for application.

As an Elite Athlete Friendly University, the University of South Australia (UniSA) has a proud history of supporting elite athletes to achieve their best in their sport and studies.

The UniSA Elite Athlete Scholarship extends this support to reduce the financial pressures associated with study, so you can focus on achieving your sporting and academic careers.

The Elite Athlete Scholarship will be awarded to South Australian students who have achieved an Australian Tertiary Admissions Rank and have enrolled to study a UniSA undergraduate Bachelor's degree. Scholarship recipients receive $20,000 per annum (to a maximum of $80,000), for up to four years of full-time study (or part-time equivalent), to support their educational and living expenses.

Value: $20,000 per annum (to a maximum of $80,000), for up to four years of full-time study (or part-time equivalent).

Eligibility & Selection Criteria

  • Meet academic entry requirements for their chosen program of study, and have successfully applied through SATAC to study a Bachelor's degree at UniSA.
  • Be a commencing UniSA student who has completed year 12 in South Australia in the period since the scholarship was last awarded.
  • Be starting university for the first time.
  • Be an Australian citizen or permanent resident of Australia.
  • Register as an elite athlete with UniSA by the scholarship closing date
  • Have won a medal within the last four years in a South Australian Sports Institute (SASI) recognised sport at one (or more) of the below competition levels:
     - Olympic Games
     - Commonwealth Games
     - World Championship Games

Elite Athlete & Performer Grants 2019: Round 2 FAQs

  • How long will the grants be open?

    Round 2 for the grants will be open for applications from 12.00am on Monday 15th July.

    The Travel Grant will close at 11.59pm on Sunday 28th July 2019 (ACST) and the Study Grant will close at 11.59pm on Sunday 11th August 2019 (ACST).
  • How many grants are available? 

    The amount of grants issued will be depend on the amounts requested by applicants. The applications will be assessed and allocated in chronological order of receipt until the available funds remaining are exhausted. 

    There has been a very high level of applications for these grants, particularly the Travel grant, and an application will not guarantee an offer.

  • What will I need to provide?

    Please refer to the Scholarships website and the ‘Supporting Documentation for EAPP Grants’ guide for information on what will need to be provided with your application.

  • How can I check if I’m currently registered with the EAPP?

    Please contact Director.SAS@unisa.edu.au to confirm if you are registered with the program.

  • Where can I find more information about the EAPP and check if I am eligible?

  • I didn’t submit an application or my supporting documentation before the grant application period closed. Can I submit a late application? 

    Late applications will not be accepted for the EAPP grants. 

    Please note that applications with outstanding supporting documentation will also not be accepted for review.

  • When will I find out if I will be offered a grant?

    Applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application in September and October of 2019.

  • Will the grants be offered in 2020?

    At this stage we are unable to advise you accurately in regards to re-opening the scholarship, as this scheme is subject to review.
