The China-Australia Centre for Health Science Research has launched a new joint program based on the following model:

Highlights of the joint program

The Masters degree will provide you with the opportunity to work in a research environment with postgraduate students from Australia and other countries. You will be supervised by internationally-recognised researchers and will have the opportunity to work on a large number of joint research projects between scientists from Shandong University and the University of South Australia. High achieving students will also have the option of continuing on to a collaborative PhD.

Areas of research

The aim of all scientific studies conducted within the University of South Australia’s School of Pharmacy and Medical Sciences is to help find solutions for the major health challenges facing the world. These challenges include cancer treatment, infectious diseases, nutrition, health policy, gene technology and complementary therapies. The researchers all share a spirit of cooperation and a desire to improve the health of humans and animals through innovative and translational research.


Both Universities are very keen to attract highly talented students to this program. To support the China-Australia Centre for Health Science Research, the University of South Australia is offering a very generous fee structure, summarised below:

Entry requirements

Applicants to this joint program are required to have:

  • Completed 3.5 years of Shandong University Bachelor of Pharmacy degree with a minimum GPA of 3.25.
  • Evidence of current English proficiency in the form of IELTS of 7.0, with a minimum of 6.0 in each band or equivalent. Other English language tests (for Divisions with English rich programs) with the required score will also be acceptable. Read more information on English Language Requirements.
  • If you have an overall IELTS score of 6.5, with a minimum of 6.0 in each band you will be permitted to enrol in the Bachelor of Pharmacy 0.5 part of the program, but will need to have gained an overall score of 7.0 before commencing the Masters degree. You will also be required to undertake additional English tutoring or courses during the undergraduate 0.5 part and cover the fees involved.
