On 15th November, the work of the Agricultural Machinery Research and Design Centre was awarded an Honourable Mention for the Business/Higher Education Round Table 2016 Best Research and Development Collaboration Award. It was awarded for the collaboration with the funding partner Grains Research and Development Corporation, patent licensee de Bruin Engineering of Mount Gambier and collaborating farmer Ray Harrington of Western Australia. The collaborative project developed a patented hydraulically powered mill that is incorporated into a grain harvester that kills the seeds in the chaff before they are dispersed back onto the soil. It is being built and marketed as a retrofit kit by de Bruin Engineering. Further information on the product can be found at ihsd.com.
The iHSD has been included in the American Society for Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE) top 50 new product releases for 2017. This is a very prestigious international award to be publically announced in early 2017.
