In September 2018, Dr Heather Anderson (in collaboration with Dr Charlotte Bedford, University of Adelaide) conducted an action research community project at the Adelaide Women’s Prison (AWP), which was funded by a Department for Correctional Services SA Community Grant.

The project built on the success of the 2017 Mobilong Prison Radio pilot program and involved a series of audio production workshops with a group of thirteen women incarcerated in the prison. The participants produced stories and information to assist new prisoners through their induction period at AWP, and their CD includes messages and features based on themes identified by the participants as important to the settling-process in prison.

This work is a part of Dr Anderson’s ongoing research program, investigating ways in which radio and audio production can promote positive change in prison.
