Indigenous Representation on Screen
A guide for students and educators on understanding Aboriginal Histories & Cultures through Australian Film
Wednesday 31 October, 10 – 11am | 1.30 – 2.30pm
Presented by the National Film & Sound Archive, this program looks at the images, films, artists & film-makers in Starstruck: Australian Movie Portraits to offer insights into the ways they each build different and changing portraits of Indigenous people, perspectives, stories and cultures.
Through the wide range of examples from Australian cinema, participants have an opportunity both to engage with the diversity of First Nations' perspectives but also look at the changing shape of Indigenous narratives on screen as they have moved from the hands of European-Australian storytellers much more into the control of Aboriginal people themselves.
Free entry, no booking required.
Location: Mercury Cinema
