Apply for the Scholarship

The University of South Australia offers the scholarships on behalf of the Trustee of the estate of Gordon Samstag, late of Naples, Florida USA.

Each scholarship is intended to cover the reasonable costs for a period of twelve months overseas, and includes a tax-exempt stipend of US $48,000 plus return airfares, personal travel and medical insurance and institutional fees for one academic year, where these apply.

The following are eligible:

  • All applicants must be either Australian citizens or have permanent resident status in Australia, and be at least 18 years of age.
  • Students currently enrolled in a visual arts program having successfully completed at least two years of an undergraduate degree or a graduate, of not more than five years standing by the date when applications close, of a practice-led visual art undergraduate degree or postgraduate qualification at an Australian institution of higher education

After downloading the Application Form, either:

1. Complete the form directly on your computer, for which you will need Adobe Reader, version 7.0.5 or later. Digitally completed forms – including Sections G and H – MUST be printed and posted to the Samstag office, along with your support material (i.e., not forwarded by email).

2. If you do not wish to complete the form on your computer, you should complete the form by hand, with the exception that Section G MUST be typed.
