River Murray South Australia
The River Murray flows through South Australia and enters the sea through Lake Alexandrina. The river Murray has been heavily regulated by man for over 100 years with a series of locks in the lower lakes area.
The current drought and previous droughts in 1902 and the 1940's have seen the mouth of the River become blocked and hence the precious life of the Lake and the Coorong become affected (see newspaper article from the The Advertiser).
The photos below show the dredging activities undertaken for the last few seasons to un block the River Mouth. These photos were taken in January 2007 by Prof McKay and may be used with acknowledgement.
