Virginie Gillet -- Background and research activities
Virginie is a UniSA President's Scholarship holder and is pursuing her
PhD studies after her Master (M.Sc. [Social Water Management]) from the CNEARC (now called SupAgro),
Montpellier, France.

Work Experience
- 6 months with the National Institute for Agricultural Research (Avignon, France) as an editorial assistant for Agronomy: Agriculture & Environment, a French peer review journal (now called Agronomy for Sustainable Development);
- 1 year as a Water Consultant for the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations (FAO) Regional Office in Latin America and the Caribbean (Santiago, Chile) and Headquarters (Rome, Italy);
- 2 years as an Associate Professional Officer for the FAO Special Programme IPTRID (International Programme for Technology and Research in Irrigation and Drainage).

- Moderator of the electronic forum on “Water Contamination: Impact of irrigation and water agricultural intensification on water quality” organized by IPTRID, 23 May–21 July 2006.
- Organized the workshop on “Monitoring and Evaluation of Capacity Development in Agricultural Water Management” where a paper was presented, 14 September 2006, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, jointly organized by IPTRID and the Working Group on Capacity Building, Training and Education of the International Commission on Irrigation and Drainage.
- Organized the workshop on “Prioritization and Management of Water Research in Ethiopia” where a paper on the logical framework approach was presented, July 2006, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, jointly organized by IPTRID and IWMI.
