Established in 2004 as a joint venture between the South Australian Water Corporation and UniSA, the Centre has added significant expertise to the water research capability in South Australia. Building on established strengths in urban water resources management, the Centre is establishing core capabilities in water and waste water treatment, water reuse, total water cycle management, water sensitive urban design, environmental biotechnology, water utilisation from the River Murray and the provision of water services for rural and desert communities. The SA Water Centre for Water Management and Reuse aims to maintain a balance between fundamental and applied research in a way that attracts key intellectual capability, promotes innovation and builds intellectual property. Strong links fostered by the Centre with local and international water industries ensures a vibrant water research capability focused on the main competencies of water reuse, recycling and sustainability.
