Understanding the authoring environment
The corporate web authoring environment allows authors to use the development server to author and test their pages. To make sites live, ie transfer them to the production server, authors will need to use a specially created publishing tool. The templates will be available at the address www.newdev.unisa.edu.au (development) and will publish to www.unisa.edu.au (production).
Authoring and publishing process

This process has several advantages
- the development web is a 'safe' environment where webpages can be planned, revised, approved and tested, before being publicly viewed, giving you plenty of scope for change and experimentation
- the development and production environments are identical once material is published, alleviating confusion about which is the up-to-date site. This is especially important where there are multiple authors
