Process for developing a new site

This section of the Web Authoring Guide is more for the development of a brand new site using the corporate web templates. If you are maintaining an existing site go to How to author webpages.

The process for developing websites at UniSA has been set up to ensure that the corporate web environment is systematically maintained. This process involves you, your area manager, MDU and ISTS.

The website conversion flowchart illustrates this process. You will also find the Checklist for conversion useful.

It is strongly recommended that web authors complete an overview of each page along with the proposed IA for the new website. This will give MDU greater clarity when assessing the proposed website and ensure that approval process occurs as quickly as possible. The website proposal template provides all of the details which need to be addressed in the planning stages of your project.

You may also wish to refer to Web Management Guidelines (PDF 574kb - download Adobe Acrobat). This document aims 'to provide a common understanding of and commitment to the processes by which major changes are made to the University corporate web presence, both on corporate and non-corporate servers. It will clarify the shared responsibilities of various areas in the maintenance of the University's web resource.'
