Zero Waste X'press 06

an ecology of engagement

VADRG in collaboration with Mulloway studio and the Electronic Music Unit at Adelaide University have made a proposal to Zero Waste for the X’press project. The proposal is titled ‘an ecology of engagement’, this dispersed public art project covers virtual and ‘real’ realms. A site specific installation of baffles and lights, for ‘playing the bridge’ is proposed for the underpass on the site, along with an educational DVD, website and recorded sound work that can be broadcast on 88FM and incorporated into recorded material.

The X'press brief is for a public artwork for a wetland site near the Wingfield recycling plant.  The site is a constructed wetlands area that filters storm water and also provides a habitat for a wide variety of bird life. Zero Waste wants to point out this site as an exemplar of sustainable waste practices. In line with this the brief is that the artwork should provide an educative function about recycling, waste and sustainability.
