About
Research Education
VADRG is a research group formed mainly of members of the Louis Laybourne Smith School of Architecture and Design (LLS) and the South Australian School of Art (SASA) (both at City West Campus); the Group’s research areas reflect the strong & dynamic research culture of LLS and SASA, with both Schools' having a high level of creative research outcomes and research publications, exhibitions, consultancies, conference attendance/participation– with major contributions made at Honours and Postgraduate levels.
The research priorities of VADRG parallel those of both Schools, with these priorities focused on supporting visiting scholars and artists in residency programs; postgraduate student/staff seminars and studio critiques; symposia & colloquia on research topics and themes; student and staff exhibitions of creative works; student and staff collaborations with industry partners; staff and student publications and conference presentations; staff and student attainment of internal and external (nationally competitive) grants.
In 2006 and 2007 VADRG's research project is 'Not – there: The ethics and politics of non-monumental art and design practices for/as public space', please see 'There Forever' in the projects section of this site for more information.
Priority areas in 2006 are to continue to increase national competitive grant submissions and success rates; develop a major focus on sustainable societies; support international research; support Indigenous research; extend professional development for early career researchers and emerging research leaders; develop a web based presence towards a research and publication portal.
