Publish to development
This information relates to the UniSAinfo Reporting development environment.
Cubes
1. get the cube compiled using Transformer
2. copy the .mdc file to \\itudev-bi1\cognos\[your_unit]\Published PP Cubes
3. Start Cognos Server Administration, and click 'OLAP cubes and Reports'
4. Go to the appropriate target folder eg UniSA Public>Finance
5. Click the 3rd icon 'Insert Cube' - go to 'Cube Source' and browse for the
cube on Vanilla, then
click OK (wait for a few minutes).
6. Select the added cube, then click the 4th from last icon 'Publish to
Upfront'.
It should say 'This cube was successfully published'.
7. The cube is now ready for testing - open Internet Explorer, go to
itudev-bi1
then navigate to the appropriate NewsBox in Upfront.

Reports
To publish a PowerPlay report to Upfront, you need to publish the cube source there first, then the report. Then open the report on the server and point to the cube on the server.
1. Copy the report from
\\itudev-bi1\cognos\[your_unit]\Published PP Reports
and the cube to
\\itudev-bi1\cognos\[your_unit]\Published PP Cubes folder (if the cube is being published) or
the
\\itudev-bi1\cognos\[your_unit]\Cube Data Source folder (if the cube is NOT being published).
2. Start Powerplay, click File>Open,
in the 'Choose a Report' window ensure you are "Looking in" 'cognos on
itudev-bi1'
tick the 'Prompt for Cube' checkbox then
browse to the Report on itudev-bi1 and click Open.
3. In the 'Choose a Remote cube' window, add or select 'itudev-bi1' from the Connections drop-down
4. Browse for the source cube you just published and click OK
5. if the Report has dynamic filters or is output in pdf format -
make sure you have defined the Deployment Options
File>Deployment Options
6. Save the Report in the .ppx format
File>Save As Type: PowerPlay Portable Report (.ppx)
7. Start Cognos Server Administration, and click 'OLAP cubes and Reports' and select 'itudev-bi1'
8. Go to the appropriate target folder eg UniSA Public>Finance
9. click 4th icon 'Insert Report' - go to 'Report Source' and browse
for the Report on itudev-bi1 then
click OK (wait for a few minutes). The Name can then be updated if needs be.
10. Select the added Report, then click the 4th from last icon 'Publish to
Upfront'.
It should say 'This cube was successfully published'.
11. The cube is now ready for testing - open Internet Explorer, go to
itudev-bi1
then navigate to the appropriate Newsbox in Upfront.
