Access information
For UniSAinfo Reporting and BI Reporting, access to information is managed at multiple levels. The Staff Portal provides a single point of entry using the user's university logon. Access is further managed at both the NewsBox or Folder level and finally, for reports requiring database access, access is managed at the database role level.
- Staff Portal - the primary access point to Business Intelligence Reporting.
- NewsBox / Folder levels - there are three primary NewsBox structures of which UniSA Public is available to all University staff.
- Request access to a NewsBox / Report - should you not be able to access a particular NewsBox / Folder or report.
The primary access point is the Staff Portal - select my Management then Reports.
There are various links of interest.
- BI Reporting Training link - details Business Intelligence training available to users.
- Raise a Data Quality issue - enables you to formally raise any data quality issues you might encounter in the reporting environments.
- UniSAinfo Reporting - takes you into the Cognos 7 reporting environment.
- BI Reporting - takes you into the new Cognos 8 reporting environment.
- Favourites tab - lists reports that a user has previously saved as a favourite.
- Top5 Public Reports tab - lists the top 5 most frequently used Public reports.
- Find a Report tab - enables a user to search for (and save as a favourite) reports available in the reporting environments.
- Business Processes tab – details relevant business process web pages which should include links to data relating to that business process, for example ‘Program Review’.
- Other Resources tab - lists other web pages of use to users and developers relating to Business Intelligence reporting.
NewsBox / Folders are structured to provide different levels of access to NewsBoxes (Folders in the case of BI Reporting) within University divisions and units, depending on the requirements of each staff member.
UniSA Public
UniSA Restricted
UniSA Local - Divisions/Portfolios
UniSA Public - All staff with a university logon have access to this NewsBox.
Note: although staff are able see all cubes and reports some reports require additional database access, these access requirements are detailed in the description of the report.

UniSA Restricted - This level contains more sensitive information and is only available to users who have been granted permission by the relevant data custodian (for example, access to Research (Restricted Access Only) is authorised by Research and Innovation Services). NewsBoxes that have restricted access are clearly identified in the environment.
Fill out the UniSA Restricted access request if you require access to a Restricted NewsBox.
UniSA Local - Divisions/Portfolios - These NewsBoxes are available for specific groups within Divisions and Portfolios who:
- have direct involvement with analysing and dealing with data from corporate transaction systems; and/or
- have customised UniSA Public data that supports their local needs
Access to this level is determined by the individual's role within the nominated business area. The business areas and the key contacts are listed below

If you require access to a particular NewsBox / Folder. If you require access to a particular Report. Note: With any request you should include the following

| Access is available to staff who require particular information to perform the responsibilities of their position. The process will be dependant upon the the relevant business procedures used by the Unit managing access to that particular data. |
