UniSA wins top business accolade

business people workingUniSA was named the inaugural winner of a prestigious new honour in November, the Ashley Goldsworthy Award for sustained collaboration between business and higher education.

Presented at a gala event hosted by the Business/Higher Education Round Table (BHERT), the award acknowledges UniSA's commitment to working with industry and business over many years.

Accepting the award Professor Peter Lee said he was proud of UniSA's ongoing engagement with the business world through research, teaching and innovation.

"BHERT is an invaluable group in Australian society because it encourages the vital conversation between business and industry and the wider research and education community - a conversation that delivers enormous benefits for the whole nation," Prof Lee said.
"One of UniSA's foundational aspirations was to maintain an approach to education and research that was relevant in the world. This has meant the University has made active and entrepreneurial engagement with business, industry and government part of its core activity."
Prof Lee cited UniSA's ongoing efforts in Adelaide's northern suburbs as an example of successful and strategic business and community collaboration.

"UniSA Northern Areas Partnership program has been active now for more than six years, working with individuals, companies, schools and colleges, local, state and federal government and organisations such as the Northern Adelaide Manufacturing Industry Group, to network and build capacity through education, mentoring and research," he said.

"This collaboration is great example of how universities can play a vital role in empowering communities, promoting equity and improving employment and productivity across a whole community in partnership with businesses and industry stakeholders. We are delighted that this and all of our collaborative work has been acknowledged by BHERT."
