Sustainable partners
UniSA
and the South Australia Research and Development Institute (SARDI) have
signed a Memorandum of Understanding to underpin some exciting research,
development and educational alliances set to benefit South Australia.
At a special ceremony in June, UniSA Vice Chancellor Professor Denise Bradley and SARDI Executive Dr Rob Lewis signed a Biosystems SA collaborative alliance and a broader organisational MOU that will support collaborative research specifically in the area of sustainable systems.
The alliance between Integrated Aquaculture and Biotechnology at SARDI and UniSA's Water Environment Biotechnology Laboratory has a specific focus on the areas of water remediation and recovery bioproducts, biofuels and integrated farming.
Professor Bradley said the organisation-wide agreement recognised a broader mutual focus on sustainability across the two organisations.
"This agreement is important for both organisations but also for the wider community because it is a partnership that strengthens our strategic commitment to developing a sustainable future," she said.
"It will put the University in closer contact with the agricultural sector and in a better position to pursue opportunities for applying technology in agriculture and related materials and manufacturing industries."
Professor Bradley said working together on research projects, supporting the development of new local expertise through scholarships, research degree supervision and the sharing resources and facilities would build approaches to solving the community's sustainability problems.
