Hands-on fun at science experience
Students from 24 schools got a taste of some of the exciting careers available in science and technology when they visited UniSA for the Siemens Science Experience in January.
More than 40 year 10 students were treated to a program of talks and activities put on by UniSA's Division of Health Sciences and the Division of IT, Engineering and the Environment.
The first two days focussed around Mawson Lakes campus, with some of the activities including a visit to the Satellite Control Room used to control Australia's own research satellite Fedsat, a fun with electronics workshop, a demonstration of augmented reality, and the chance to see a solar vehicle up close.
Activities
from day three at UniSA's City East campus included a demonstration and
explanation of ultrasound and Xray, a talk from Dr Sara Jones on podiatry,
and a workshop where students got to produce their own pharmacy cream by
following a formula.
The Siemens Science Experience is a national event hosted by various universities around Australia, and organised in association with Rotary clubs, Young Scientists of Australia and the Australian Science Teachers Association.
