There are many types of image format however; we are only going to discuss the two main types for display on the Web. No matter what format your original image may be in, you will need to save your image as a GIF or JPEG file before linking it to a Web page. GIF and JPEG are used for different applications.
GIFGIF (Graphic Interchange Format) format is best used for graphics with few colours and strong definition between each colour. For example, a logo would be best saved as a GIF file.
