Set discussion security for student group

To set the security so that all the students in the course can access a discussion:

  1. Click Groups.  
  2. Click Students
  3. Click Next.

  1. Enter the course Medici area and catalogue number.
  2. Click Search.

The search result will display:

  1. Click the the relevant course offering. Generally you would want to select the basic course offering – this entry is shown as UNINET\Crs-[Medici area and catalogue number] (Abbreviated course title)

    Note:
    Searching with a Medici course code will result in a display of all groups listed in Medici for that course. There may be entries by study periods, mode of delivery (eg. internal) and groups such as lecture and tutorial. Click here for a guide to Medici codes.
     
  2. Click Insert
  3. Click Done.

The Search window will close, and the View by resource window will reappear showing the newly added student group.

  1. Choose the Permission you want for this student group - "Write" if you want the students to be able to post message to the discussion, or, "Read only" if you only want students to be able to read the discussion.
  2. Click Save.

The Saving security window will open, listing the ‘Additions’ as confirmation of changes made.

Security has now been set for the discussion, and in this example all students in the course will be able to access all discussions.
