Welcome to the third issue of the Transnational Support Services Newsletter.
We are a Division of Business unit located on the first floor of 189 Hindley Street. Our services include international travel for the Division, web and online for transnational undergraduate students, transnational student administration and program management.

Check In Times - Make sure you're there on time Qantas Airlines Domestic: Recommended time 1 hour before scheduled departure time. International: Recommended time 2 hours before scheduled departure time. Please note: Qantas does not yet support online check in for International services, only domestic. Since you will generally be travelling through to an International destination, you are unable to check in online ¨C including any domestic leg of your journey. Please click here for more information Singapore Airlines International: Recommended time 2.5 hours before scheduled departure time. If checked in online, recommended time 2 hours before scheduled departure time. Online check in opens 48 hours before departure and closes 2 hours before departure. Please click here for more information Note: Travel agents are unable to request specific seat allocation requests for Singapore Airlines bookings. We recommend joining the free Kris Flyer Program (Singapore Airlines Frequent Flyer) ¨C then you are able to log on to your profile and make requests when you check in on line. Being a Kris Flyer Member also has other advantages, such as waitlist preference. Malaysia Airlines World-wide, Malaysian Airlines recommend that you arrive at the airport to check in 3 hours before scheduled departure time. They cite increased security demands as the reason for this amount of time. Malaysian Airlines issue paper tickets, not e-tickets ¨C so online check in is not available; only counter check in at the Airport. Please click here for more information Cathay Pacific Worldwide, Cathay Pacific recommends that you arrive at the airport to check in 2 - 3 hours before scheduled departure time. They cite increased Customs and Immigration demands as the reason for this amount of time. Asia Miles and Marco Polo members are able to check in online from 24 hours prior to their flight; however it is still recommended they arrive at the airport 2 hours before scheduled departure time. Mid Year Academic Review It¡¯s that time of the year again¡Academic Review time! Mid year Academic Review includes study periods 6, 7, 1 & 2. SAS will run the Academic Review batch process on 16 July for both onshore and offshore students. The batch process automatically assigns the Academic Standings to the student record. Please make sure all grades are finalised by the 15th July. Once the batch process has occurred, SAS will distribute the Academic Standings Lists. TSS will forward these lists to Program Directors for their information only. SSA¡¯s will generate the appropriate letters and forward them to partners for distribution. Please note: Academic Review procedures differ at mid year from the end of year. Students can only be recommended for preclusion (Notified 3) at the end of the year, unless the student has already been considered by the committee for preclusion in a previous review period and is being monitored by the Program Director. No new preclusions will be assigned during mid year. Academic Review meetings will only discuss Notified 3 decision. Please find the current policy and procedures

Offshore Graduation Presentations For your information, the overseas presentation of awards ceremonies 2007 are scheduled for 15-22 July in the following countries, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore and Hong Kong. The presentations are scheduled on
Click here for more information Students eligible to attend the presentations must have either graduated at an onshore ceremony OR via council conferral between August 2006 and June 2007. Postcard invitations and student data spreadsheets have been sent to partners by PRC¡¯s for distribution to eligible students.
TSS Materials Review Final negotiations will be undertaken with offshore partners in July and all processes will be operational from 1 August 2007. Offshore Academic Training Sessions Lianne Gore will be conducting training sessions with offshore academics at Taylors, Kaplan (Singapore) and HKBU in July. The offshore academics will be briefed on the process changes that have resulted from the TSS Materials Review in addition to UniSA systems and services:
News / Outcomes Offshore assignment tracking, spreadsheets and service delivery A meeting held on the 6th June between TSS and School Admin staff resulted in an improved Assignment tracking process. This process will soon be documented and added to the TSS Website resources for your reference. Garry McLeod has moved to the HKBU team as Student Service Adviser for OBAM, OBHR and OBTM programs. Rita Mitkas, the newly appointed Team Leader: Student Service Adviser will be looking after the Taylors programs. Congratulations to Gina Papangelou who is keeping the TSS Baby Boom going. |
