NEW! Exceptions to Business Travel Form

Please ensure you print and complete this form to obtain appropriate authorisations if you are going to attach personal travel to your business trip or travel with a spouse, family member or dependent.

Personal Travel

Attaching personal travel to your business travel itinerary requires HOS authorisation. The percentage of business v personal travel can also impact on University Travel Insurance.

If the Head of School approves the travel the traveller must arrange their personal travel direct with the University¡¯s travel supplier who is making your business flight arrangements. Payment for the personal portion must be made directly to the travel agent. Failure to pay for the personal portion of the travel may result in tickets not being issued.

Generally Travel Insurance is not provided by the University if the personal component is greater than the business component. You should contact the University Travel Insurance office for further information.

Travelling with your spouse, family member or dependent

If you are travelling on University business and accompanied by a spouse, family member or dependent you will require PVC (SMG member) approval.

If the PVC (SMG member) approves the travel all arrangements for the spouse, family member or dependent can be made directly with the University¡¯s travel supplier who is making your business flight arrangements. Any costs associated with the spouse, family member or dependent must be paid by the traveller.

In some cases University Travel insurance can cover your spouse. Contact the University Travel Insurance office for further information.

The form is permanently available on the TSS Travel Website under forms.

TSS Materials Review June 2007

The TSS Materials Review Report was released to Heads of Schools and School Executive Officers last week for initial feedback. This feedback has been incorporated into the Review document which is now available for wider circulation. This review does not apply to the International Graduate School of Business as they have an independent materials process.

TSS staff will be visiting schools during the month of June to discuss issues relating to the review. Division of Business staff are invited to provide feedback on the TSS Materials Review via their School Executive Officer by COB Wednesday 20 June 2007.

Overview of Changes

Appointment of Academic Teaching Staff

  • Can now be more proactive - staff allocations can be made much earlier as the Consolidated timetable enables staff to view future schedules and forward plan

  • School Resource Officers to complete all contract and payment negotiations prior to confirmation of staff appointment with TSS

  • If staff cannot be appointed within the required timeframe a caretaker Course Coordinator will be appointed so that partner deadlines for information and materials can still be met

Process documentation:

1. Appointment of UniSA Academic teaching staff
2. Appointment of Partner Academic paid by UniSA
3. Non Paid Partner Academic teaching staff

Course Timelines - Due Dates

  • TPI's (Timeline and Payment Information) have been renamed CTI's (Course Timeline Information) to reflect the new process of School Resource Officers confirming payment information prior to TSS releasing the CTI.

  • There are NO SOFT DEADLINES. Timelines quoted are deadlines negotiated with the partners allowing TSS 1 day to turn around work.

  • Some negotiation is still required with partners. For example HKBU would like all CISG's 8 weeks prior to commencement. We have set a 5 week timeline as being reasonable and are negotiating with HKBU. If materials are submitted late this will seriously undermine the promises we make to the partner and the negotiations we are undertaking on your behalf. Please adhere to the timelines.

Process documentation and templates:

1. Semester Timeline Info for CTI
2. CTI Master (Taylors' Programs)
3. CTI Master (except Taylors NOT MODERATED)
4. CTI Master (except Taylors MODERATED)

Textbooks

  • Unless otherwise indicated by lecturer within the appropriate timeframe the approved text for the course (as per course statement) will be purchased.
    ¡¡
  • Changes to textbooks must be approved by School/Division Boards as per University policy

Process documentation:

1. Textbooks and Reference books process

Support for editing

  • Recommendation for the appointment of materials coordinators in schools
  • Materials coordinator monitors the quality of materials and adherence to deadlines.
  • Materials Coordinators lodge CISG materials with TSS after final CC sign off

Process documentation:

1. CISG processes

Templates

  • Use of templates is required
  • TSS to lobby for further changes to University template for 2008 (removal of Extra Information from Transnational template)
  • A BUE CIB template has been created for use across all programs
  • Online Templates are currently being investigated Uni Wide which may affect practices in 2008.

Templates:

1. BUE Trans Program Guide Template 2007
2. BUE Trans CIB Template 2007
3. BUE Trans SG Template 2007

Handouts

  • Academic staff to post handouts to their course website "Seminar Materials" folder

  • Partner staff to download handouts from the course website "Seminar Materials" folder and print for students

  • Handouts that are not available by the due date (without prior arrangement with the partner) may not be printed and made available in class

  • Students will have access to seminar materials online prior to the workshop.
