Taylors Staff Visit

On 21 and 22 August two Taylor's staff members, Elvin Tan Geok Pin, Assistant Manager Enrolment Services and Stacey Aw Soo Bee, Senior Student Advisor came to Adelaide. Elvin and Stacey are involved in counselling students and various activities promoting the University. The intention of the visit was to give them a broader understanding about UniSA and the services we offer students. During their stay, they visited both the City West and Magill Campuses with a particular focus on Learning Connection, Accommodation services and Campus Central.

Here is a photo from the Taylors end of year celebration. Janice Yew and company won first prize of RM1,000 for their ¡°Shall we dance¡± competition!

Changes to processes as a result of Materials Review

Amendments to timelines, processes and procedures were signed off by schools and offshore partners in June/July 2007. Final documentation can be viewed at: http://www.unisa.edu.au/tss/ac_resources/ac_resources.asp

Handouts

Partners agreed to download course handouts direct from the Seminar Materials folder in the course website. Please remember your handouts must be uploaded to this folder 2 weeks prior to your visit if you require them to be printed for your lectures.

Course Materials

TSS staff negotiated the deadline for Course Information Booklets and Study Guides when meeting with partners in July. Some partners reluctantly agreed to the 5 weeks prior to the commencement of the semester deadline, pointing out that this left them no leeway if they were to meet printer and dispatch deadlines.

Please note: that late materials are in breach of our service agreements with the partners. If you believe you will have difficulty meeting deadlines please contact your relevant PRC or SEO as soon as possible so that assistance may be provided.

How not to confuse students with AssignIT

Here are a few tips for setting up assignments on AssignIT without leaving your students dazed and confused:

  • Label each assignment with as many details as possible, including intake, semester and anything else that will help students identify the correct assignment.
  • Make sure you add the assignment by class number, not by course.
  • Make sure the assignment is open 2 weeks prior to the due date. This will reduce the amount of emails that we all receive regarding student "access issues".

Travel Updates

Mr Graziano Tavoni's portfolio at Tee Lee Travel has been taken over by Mr Renato Cabuoto effective 29th Oct 2007. Graziano is taking some time off before moving to Italy.

The Travel Team recommends checking out the Fast Check Arrivals Guides website when travelling overseas. The website provides travel guides on most cities worldwide, and has information on things to do and see, places to eat and drink, shopping destinations and has up to date city maps.

Hong Kong international airport has been named the best airport in the world in a recent Independent Herald Tribune article.

Congratulations to two of our APMI Kaplan colleagues on their graduation from UniSA

Judy Saw, who graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication and Media Management, is working as Marketing Consultant at Kaplan and has outstanding achievements promoting UniSA programs and recruiting BBA students.  She was overjoyed at the Overseas Graduation Ceremony held in Singapore in June.

"Students can learn from me about studying a UniSA program and I can testify of the graduate qualities. These come straight from the heart and I am the living proof of the off-shore study structure" Judy said.

Carol Marsh, who graduated with a Master of Social Science (Counselling), is the HR Manager at Kaplan. She found that studying on the program with UniSA was a journey of self-discovery that brought about an awareness of the way she perceives things, her thoughts and behaviour patterns. She believes that she will be a better HR Manager in Kaplan after the completion of her study.
