29th Conference of Australian Institutes of Transport Research – CAITR 2007

The 29th Conference of Australian Institutes of Transport Research (CAITR) will be hosted by the ISST - Transport Systems at the University of South Australia between from the 5th to the 7th of December 2007.

About CAITR

The Conference of Australian Institutes of Transport Research (CAITR) is a forum that provides transport researchers and professionals with an opportunity to present and discuss their work in an informal and supportive environment and to meet with their peers and colleagues. The conference is particularly suited to students undertaking research towards a postgraduate degree or working on undergraduate projects in transport as it gives them a chance to present work in progress, receive constructive feedback and improve their presentation skills. Similarly, presenters with work in progress and conceptual innovations and ideas are welcome and supported with constructive feedback. Non-presenting participants are accorded a warm welcome and invited to participate fully in the conference activities including the conference dinner.

The conference itself will consist of paper presentations and a summary from a representative of each transport research entity of their activities since the last CAITR. For more information and previous CAITR proceedings, visit: http://civil.eng.monash.edu.au/its/caitrhome

Prizes

The Robert L Pretty Memorial Prize (sponsored by Akçelik and Associates Pty Ltd) is awarded to the best undergraduate student paper.
The Rodney Vaughan Memorial Prize (sponsored by The Urban Transport Institute) is awarded to the best postgraduate research student paper.

Call for Abstracts

If you are interested in presenting a paper at the conference, please submit an abstract of between 150 and 300 words to the conference convenor (contact details below) by Friday 5th of October 2007.

Email submissions are preferred and may be sent to CAITR07@unisa.edu.au. Please put ‘CAITR 2007 Abstract’ in the subject line of your email. Submissions must contain the name, affiliation and contact details (including address, telephone number and email) of all of the authors and indicate who is the contact author.

Since the nature of the conference is deliberately less formal and rigorous than most other transport research conferences, the abstract is in effect an indication of:
(1) your intention to attend the conference to present a paper based on the abstract; and
(2) the appropriate grouping of the paper for presentation sessions during the conference.

Therefore you will not be ‘notified of acceptance of your abstract’ and production of your paper is then contingent upon the information contained in the next two sections.

Registration

The cost of registration is $140 in total. This includes conference participation, lunches, morning and afternoon teas but excludes other meals and accommodation. The due date for registration is Friday the 16th of November 2007. The conference brochure, including registration documents can be downloaded here.
