The purpose of the competitive UniSA Learning & Teaching Grants Scheme is to support the strategic objectives stated in the University’s Teaching and Learning Framework. Through innovation and the enhancement of educational practice and products, outcomes are disseminated for the purpose of adoption and embedding throughout the University, where appropriate.
The Grants Scheme also provides opportunities for staff to implement and trial concepts and products with the potential to be developed through the Australian Learning and Teaching Council (ALTC) Grants Scheme.
Approximately $150,000 is provided annually to support a range of projects across the University. If the quality or quantity of applications is such that grant money remains in a category, funds may be reallocated across categories. Funding in all categories is normally for a period not exceeding twelve months from the date of the initial release of project funding.
Annually, there are two rounds of applications to the UniSA Learning and teaching Grants Scheme
An annual grant is available for a project that addresses a University teaching and learning priority area, as announced annually by the Deputy Vice Chancellor: Academic. Applications are accepted in Round 2.
Development Grants are designed to promote small-scale innovation and to develop good practice in learning and teaching. Applications are accepted in Round 2.
The purpose of the Pilot Project Grants is to enable successful applicants to develop a learning and teaching project concept to the point where a well-grounded application can be submitted for consideration under one or other of the national ALTC Grants Scheme programs. There are two categories of Pilot Project Grants:
For project concepts, as determined by the University's Teaching and Learning Committee, that are strategically targeted to address selected priority areas in the ALTC scheme. Applications are accepted in Rounds 1 and 2.
To facilitate the implementation and trial of concepts to the extent required to submit a competitive project proposal to the ALTC Grants Scheme. Applications are accepted in Rounds 1 and 2.
Grants are awarded only to teams of applicants. Teams must comprise a minimum of three members of whom at least two must be either current continuing academic staff members and/or fixed term contract academic staff members at UniSA whose contract extends to the end of the implementation period.
