Cycling history and achievements
Club: Norwood Cycling Club and the Adelaide Mountain Bike Club.
Professional team: Savings & Loans Cycling Team. I will be joining
Jittery Joes Cycling Team in the USA later this year.
Bike: Avanti in Australia and a Louis Garneaux when I start riding
for Jittery Joes.
Longest distance on a bike: 270km – it was a training ride. I was on the bike for seven and a half hours. It was quite an epic. The longest race I’ve done was a stage of the Sun Tour in 2005 - it was 175km.
Career highlights: National Mountain Bike Champion and Oceania Mountain Bike Champion in 2005, and this year finishing second on the Sun Tour in 2007 and winning the National Mountain Bike Short Track Championships.
Ambitions for 2007: I’d like to have some good results for my new team when I head overseas and try and secure a ride for 2008. On the mountain bike I’m aiming for a top 20 finish in the world cup.
Tour Down Under
Tour Down Under appearances: This year is my third.
How do you prepare for the Tour? I’ve done a few National series mountain bike races and some SA Criteriums on the road bike
What do you hope to achieve in the Tour? I’d like to finish high up in the overall classification. A stage win would also be great.
