Club: Tuggeranong Vikings cycling club

Professional team: Drapac-Porsche (Melbourne based team)

Fastest speed clocked on a bike: Fitz’s Hill in Canberra, you can clock over 100km/hr going down there.

Longest distance on a bike: 303km training with Charlie Walsh (former national cycling coach) in Adelaide when I was 19 or 20-years-old. It was supposed to be a 280km training ride but we got lost. It took 10 hours.

Career highlights: Representing Australia at the Olympics in 1992. Three stage wins in the Sun Tour in 2004. Second place in the Australian Open Road Championships in 2004 and 2005.

Ambitions for 2006: I’d love to win the National’s this year after finishing second twice, but it’s such a hard race to win. I’d also like to make the Commonwealth Games team.

The Jacob's Creek Tour Down Under

Jacob’s Creek Tour Down Under appearances: This year will be my second tour.

How do you prepare for the Tour?
At the moment I’m doing a lot strength work. A couple of weeks out I will start to do some speed work behind a motorbike.

What do you hope to achieve in the Tour? A stage win in Tour Down Under would be good as would an overall team victory especially as we are up against a lot of strong pro teams.

Someone you look up to: Stuart O’Grady has a great attitude and winning spirit. Michael Rogers who was world champion three times in a row – that’s an amazing feat for someone who is only 25.

Favourite music: Powderfinger and some other Oz-rock
