Pies, flies and the voice of cycling

Walker is to Formula One motor racing what Phil Liggett is to
international cycling.
The “voice” of cycling correctly predicted how stage four would commence.
“There’ll be a lot of attacks in the first half hour,” Liggett said, adding that he was very pleased with the outcome of yesterday’s stage.
“I’m delighted for Alby (Team UniSA’s Allan Davis) winning yesterday. He’s had such a rough ride with these drug accusations he’s had to face all year with absolutely no foundation whatsovever.
“I think the organisation and the world body’s gone a bit mad trying to pursue the matter. But the fact is he needed that win and I hope he gets a ProTour team as a result.”
As to who he would win today, Liggett – in between swatting flies - suggested it’s be sprinter again.
Liggett and commentating colleague Paul Sherwen have developed something of a penchant for pies. Here they are enjoying samples from a Mannum bakery. Liggett depriving Sherwen of the last pepper pie in the warming oven.
