Activities
The research activities in the Centre revolve around the four specialty
areas of interest:- environmental systems
- materials design and applications
- energy applications
- mining and minerals assessment and separation
ACeSSS projects in these areas involve partnerships with other universities, government research groups and industry using the specific strengths of the Centre in laboratory-based structural (bulk and surface) and advanced synchrotron techniques for both structural and compositional analysis.
The Applied Centre for Structural and Synchrotron Studies has high-level expertise and international recognition in these research areas from existing and past projects. We have and are developing new projects with researchers with complementary expertise in, for instance:
- IWRI
- CARE CRC (Contamination Assessment and Remediation of the Environment Cooperative Research Centre)
- CSIRO Division of Manufacturing and Infrastructure Technology
- Surface Science Western (University of Western Ontario, Canada)
- Environmental Geochemistry International
- Levay & Co.
- Environmental Services
- and more.
The basis of these collaborative projects is the particular expertise,
experience and specialised analytical methodologies that ACeSSS can bring to
the research.
