Laboratory x-ray facilities
ACeSSS is able to supply a wide range of laboratory-based X-ray
analyses including:
Small and wide angle X-ray scattering for the in-situ examination of precipitation and agglomeration processes:
Experiments
can be carried out via a flow through cell and sample heating is
available. The combination of SAXS and WAXS enables estimation of
particle size and shape and identification of crystalline phase, all in
situ.
This technique is particularly useful for the examination of secondary mineralisation, characterisation of thin films, formation of surface layers on leaching etc... The parallel beam geometry also enables easy analysis of strain and texture. Sample heating is available for the examination of phase transformations.
X-ray powder diffraction enables the identification of crystalline phases and via Rietveld-based techniques quantitation of these phases, quantification of amorphouse components and analysis of crystallite size.
