Social Work and Human Services
Social
workers and human service professionals are concerned with promoting
human rights and social justice. In particular, they are involved in the
planning and provision of services for individuals, families, groups and
communities who experience disadvantage or personal and social
difficulties.
Social work and human service graduates are involved in developing policy, lobbying for social change, providing counselling, mediation and advocacy, administering community programs and researching social issues. They work in a range of fields with children, youth, adults and older people, in family services, community development, corrections, courts, hospitals, rehabilitation, disability services, child protection, mental health and unemployment services.
